Keep is built with privacy at its core. Your personal relationships, conversations, and contact information are sacred to us. That's why we've designed our app to keep your data where it belongs: on your device, under your control.

✅ What Stays Private (On Your Device Only)

All your contact information - Names, details, relationships
All your notes and conversations - Every memory you record
All events and reminders - Birthdays, milestones, personal moments
All relationship data - Who your friends are and your history with them

We never see this data. Nobody can access it. It never leaves your device.

What We Do Collect (Minimal & Necessary Only)

We collect only the absolute minimum needed to provide our AI-powered features:

User ID from Sign in with Apple: Only to authenticate your account securely
Voice recordings: Temporarily sent to our servers for AI transcription, then immediately deleted
Anonymized analytics: Basic app performance data with no personal information

Future authentication: If we add other sign-in providers (Google, email), we'll only collect the minimum identifier needed for authentication.

How We Protect Your Data

On-device storage: All personal data stays exclusively on your device
Encrypted transmission: Voice data is encrypted during the brief processing period
Immediate deletion: Voice recordings are deleted from our servers within seconds of transcription
No data selling: We never sell, share, or monetize your personal information
No tracking: We don't track your behavior or build profiles about you
No ads: We don't show ads or share data with advertisers

Third-Party Services

We use two carefully selected third-party services to provide AI-powered features while maintaining your privacy:

OpenAI Whisper (Voice Transcription Only)

Purpose: Converting your voice recordings to text
Your voice recording is sent securely to OpenAI's Whisper service for transcription
Immediate deletion: Voice recordings are deleted from both our servers and OpenAI's servers within seconds
OpenAI does not store or use your voice data for training their models
Only the transcribed text (not the audio) proceeds to the next step

OpenRouter.ai (AI Analysis & Structuring)

Purpose: Processing transcribed text to extract events, reminders, and insights
Your choice: You can select from multiple AI models (Claude, GPT-4, Gemini, Nova, and others)
We recommend popular models but you have full control over which AI processes your notes
Only the transcribed text is sent - never your voice recordings or personal contact data
The AI returns structured data (events, reminders) which is sent back to your device
No personal data is stored by OpenRouter or the AI model providers

Sign in with Apple: We use Apple's authentication service. When you sign in, we receive a secure user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address and name. This information is only used for authentication and account management - we never use it for marketing or share it with third parties.

Future Cloud Sync (Optional)

We're considering adding optional cloud database synchronization in the future to sync your data across multiple devices. If we implement this feature:

It will be completely optional - you can continue using the app with local-only storage
You'll have full control - explicit consent required before any data leaves your device
End-to-end encryption - your data will be encrypted so even we can't read it
Easy opt-out - you can disable cloud sync and delete cloud data at any time

Until then, your data remains 100% on your device.

Your Rights & Control

Complete data ownership: All your personal data stays on your device under your control
Delete everything: Remove your account and all associated data at any time
Export your data: Get your data in a readable format whenever you want
Offline usage: Use most app features completely offline (AI features require internet)
No lock-in: Your data is yours - take it with you if you ever want to leave
